Development of a Broad-Specific Competitive ELISA for First-Generation Cephalosporin Antibiotics in Animal-Derived Foods Samples

Summary: This study developed a broad-specific rabbit polyclonal antibody for cephalosporin antibiotics using cephalexin as the hapten molecule, and subsequently created an indirect competitive ELISA for cefalexin, cefradine, cefadroxil, and cefazolin. The ic-ELISA showed excellent detection performance for animal-derived food samples spiked with cephalosporins, demonstrating its potential as a new tool for broad-spectrum detection of first-generation cephalosporins.
