Molecular imprinting and cladding produces antibody mimics with significantly improved affinity and specificity

Rongrong Xing et al.

Summary: Molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) are important antibody mimics, but the current molecular imprinting technology faces a compromise between affinity and specificity. This study presents a new strategy called molecular imprinting and cladding (MIC), which improves the affinity and specificity of MIPs by generating a chemically inert cladding layer. The proposed strategy and method were successfully applied to engineer protein binders and demonstrated potential applications in disease diagnosis and nanomedicine.

Efficient Screening of Glycan-Specific Aptamers Using a Glycosylated Peptide as a Scaffold

Wei Li et al.

Summary: This study presents a novel approach to efficiently screen aptamers towards specific glycans with complex structures using a glycosylated peptide scaffold. By alternately conducting positive and negative selection steps, aptamers with satisfactory binding abilities to the target glycan A2G2S2 were successfully selected, which were then used for fluorescent imaging of cancerous liver cells to achieve differentiation from normal liver cells.
