Highly Bright AIE Nanoparticles by Regulating the Substituent of Rhodanine for Precise Early Detection of Atherosclerosis and Drug Screening

Kai Wang et al.

Summary: This article introduces a highly bright aggregation-induced emission (AIE) nanoprobe for the precise detection of atherosclerotic plaque at an early stage and the screening of anti-atherosclerosis drugs. The nanoprobes show high molar extinction coefficient, large photoluminescence quantum yield, and redshifted absorption/emission spectra compared to control compounds. These nanoprobes efficiently recognize atherosclerotic plaque at different stages and can be used to monitor the therapeutic effects of anti-atherosclerosis drugs.

Tunning Intermolecular Interaction of Peptide-Conjugated AlEgen in Nano-Confined Space for Quantitative Detection of Tumor Marker Secreted from Cells

Feng Wu et al.

Summary: The two steps-based MP/NPs-SLIPS sensing system was designed for ultrasensitive detection of the tumor marker MMP2 by tuning intermolecular interactions. The aggregation of AIE residual was intensified through electrostatic absorption by negatively charged NPs and confined space formed by self-assembly of NPs to PCs on SLIPS, resulting in increased fluorescent signals and improved sensitivity, reducing the limit of detection to 3.7 ng/mL.

Solid-State Nanochannel with Multiple Signal Outputs for Furin Detection Based on the Biocompatible Condensation Reaction

Jing-Jing Hu et al.

Summary: The use of ionic current and fluorescent dual-signal-output nanochannels for detecting specific target species has gained attention. Introducing an optical signal can improve detection system selectivity and observe reductions in ionic current from stimulus-triggered nanochannel changes. By employing a biocompatible condensation reaction and synthesizing molecules PCTC, it becomes possible to detect furin with multiple signal outputs and confirm nanochannel blockages via mass spectrometry analysis.

Aggregation-induced emission luminogens reveal cell cycle-dependent telomerase activity in cancer cells

Xia Wu et al.

Summary: An AIEgen-based biosensing system was developed to detect telomerase in different cell cycles. The fluorescence signal of cancer cells increased gradually from G0/G1 to S phase, while cancer cells arrested at G2/M phase and normal cells exhibited negligible signal. Compared to normal tissues, malignant tumor samples demonstrated a significant turn-on fluorescence signal.
