High-performance cascade nanoreactor based on halloysite nanotubes-integrated enzyme-nanozyme microsystem

Yan Liu et al.

Summary: In this study, a horseradish peroxidase-like nanozyme was synthesized on the surface of alkali-activated halloysite nanotubes, and a natural enzyme (glucose oxidase) was immobilized on it to construct a high-efficiency cascade nanoreactor. The nanoreactor showed superior catalytic performance, long-term stability, and recyclability, and was used as a glucose colorimetric platform with a low detection limit.

Beyond alcohol oxidase: the methylotrophic yeast Komagataella phaffii utilizes methanol also with its native alcohol dehydrogenase Adh2

Domen Zavec et al.

Summary: Methylotrophic yeasts use alcohol oxidases to assimilate methanol, but yeast strains lacking AOX1 and AOX2 genes can still consume methanol due to the promiscuous activity of alcohol dehydrogenase Adh2. Overexpression of the ADH2 gene in these strains increases methanol uptake rate and recombinant protein production.

Facile copper-based nanofibrous matrix for glucose sensing: Eenzymatic vs. non-enzymatic

Roxana-Mihaela Apetrei et al.

Summary: The study compared glucose detection efficiency between enzymatic and non-enzymatic sensing platforms. It found that the non-enzymatic sensor was more sensitive and had similar detection limits compared to the enzymatic sensor, with the addition of MWCNTs improving the performance of the non-enzymatic configuration.

A new biomimetic nanozyme of hemin/graphdiyne oxide with superior peroxidase-like activity for colorimetric bioassays

Qiqi Zhu et al.

Summary: Graphdiyne oxide (GDYO) is a novel two-dimensional carbon allotrope nanomaterial with excellent chemical stability and potential applications in biosensing. A novel ultrasensitive colorimetric bioassay was developed using a hemin/GDYO nanocomposite (H/GDYO) as a nanozyme with superior peroxidase-like activity for the detection of H2O2 and glucose. The bioassay displayed excellent sensitivity and wide linear range for H2O2 and glucose detection, with low limits of detection and successful application in real samples. The developed method shows promise for medical diagnosis and biotechnology.
