Synergistic analysis of the resilience and efficiency of China's marine economy and the role of resilience policy

Wenchao Zhu et al.

Summary: The study shows that marine economic efficiency plays a leading role in the synergistic development of the system, but the effect of resilience becomes increasingly prominent with the improvement of China's marine economy quality. There are significant spatial and temporal differences in the synergistic evolution of marine economic resilience and efficiency, showing a trend towards multipolarization. It is necessary to establish a diversified industrial system to enhance economic resilience.

Predicting the response of a potato-grain production system to climate change for a humid continental climate using DSSAT

Brogan E. Tooley et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the vulnerability of potato and barley to climate change in Maine, USA, for the years 2050-2079. Results showed that under future climate conditions and elevated CO2, yield of all potato and barley varieties increased or remained unchanged. Adjusting planting date may not be an effective climate change adaptation strategy in this region, while elevated CO2 boosted crop growth and development.

Water resources efficiency assessment in crop production from the perspective of water footprint

Xinchun Cao et al.

Summary: This study examined water resource efficiency and effective crop water use, revealing differences in efficiency among different crops and analyzing water usage patterns of major crops in China from 1996 to 2015. Beans were found to have the highest water resource utilization efficiency among crops, indicating the need for more sustainable water management practices in crop production.

Evaluating the long-term resilience of water resources systems: Application of a generalized grade-based combination approach

Massoud Behboudian et al.

Summary: This paper presents a new methodology to evaluate the resilience of water resource systems under extreme events, including three main steps: calculating performance criteria, proposing a new resilience-based criterion, and defining adaptive management scenarios. The methodology has been applied to the Zarrinehrud river basin, showing that traditional criteria may not accurately assess system resilience under extreme events, while new criteria can improve long-term resilience.

Spatial-Temporal Heterogeneity and the Related Influencing Factors of Tourism Efficiency in China

Zhiliang Liu et al.

Summary: The study measured the tourism efficiency of 30 provinces in China from 2006 to 2018 using the SBM model and Malmquist index, revealing a constant enhancement and increasingly balanced pattern in China's tourism efficiency. The utilization of input factors has been improving, with technological efficiency and progress promoting rapid growth in total-factor productivity. Different factors in different regions lead to spatial differentiation in tourism economic efficiency.

Variation Characteristic of NDVI and its Response to Climate Change in the Middle and Upper Reaches of Yellow River Basin, China

Chengpeng Lu et al.

Summary: The study analyzed the spatiotemporal variation characteristics of vegetation NDVI in the middle and upper reaches of the Yellow River from 1989 to 2018, and the relationship between vegetation NDVI and climate factors. The results showed an increasing trend in vegetation NDVI over the past 30 years, with positive NDVI changes in 81.83% of the pixels, while temperature, precipitation, and sunshine duration also exhibited specific trends and spatial distributions. In addition, the annual mean NDVI in the study area was found to have a positive correlation with temperature and precipitation, and a negative correlation with sunshine duration.
