Summary: Double-exponent fractional-order impedance functions are crucial for modeling various biochemical materials and biological tissues. By selecting different exponents, well-known relaxation models can be obtained as special cases, and an integer-order Pade-based approximation of the Havriliak-Negami function is shown to be possible. Two application examples demonstrate the capabilities of this approach.

Summary: This study demonstrates that the discharge voltage pattern of a supercapacitor with fractional-order behavior is influenced by the past charging voltage profile. By utilizing the history-dependence of the device's dynamic behavior, information pre-coded in the charging waveform pattern can be uniquely retrieved, with an analytical model based on fractional calculus explaining the information storage mechanism. The intrinsic material memory effect could potentially lead to new methods for information storage and retrieval.

Summary: This paper presents a comprehensive procedure for the analog modeling of Fractional-Order Elements (FOEs) using a standard approach from classical circuit theory. It includes the realization of a system function by a mathematical approximation of the desired phase response and the synthesis of basic fractional-order one-port models. Simple realizations of two-port differentiator and integrator models are derived based on the presented one-ports. Illustrative examples, circuit diagrams, simulation results, and practical realizations are also provided.

Summary: Fractional calculus is powerful for modeling complex systems with memory effects. The lack of robust fractional-order energy storage devices, particularly FOIs, hinders the realization of fractional systems. A straightforward approach using a coaxial structure to realize FOIs is proposed in this work, and experimental results show stable response with half-order inductive behavior. The effects of device geometry and filling material properties on device response are also investigated.

Summary: This work presents an analog implementation of a fractional-order controller, using Pade approximation to derive an integer-order transfer function instead of directly constructing from terms of the fractional-order Laplacian operator. Operational transconductance amplifiers are used as active elements for implementation, and post-layout simulation results validate the introduced procedure.
