Generation and Control of Terahertz Spin Currents in Topology-Induced 2D Ferromagnetic Fe3GeTe2|Bi2Te3 Heterostructures

Xinhou Chen et al.

Summary: Developing atomically thin, ultracompact, and ultrafast spintronic devices is crucial for future low-dissipation quantum computation, high-speed storage, and on-chip communication applications. This study successfully realizes optical THz spin-current bursts at room temperature in the 2D van der Waals ferromagnetic Fe3GeTe2 integrated with a topological insulator, providing a foundation for achieving all-optical generation of ultrafast THz spin currents in room-temperature 2D magnetism.

Molecular Approach to Engineer Two-Dimensional Devices for CMOS and beyond-CMOS Applications

Yuda Zhao et al.

Summary: This paper provides a review of the recent research progress in the functionalization of two-dimensional materials (2DMs). By covalently or noncovalently functionalizing 2DMs with molecules, more efficient charge injection and transport can be achieved, along with stimuli-responsive functionality. The authors introduce the relevant properties of 2DMs, molecules, and molecular switches, and discuss the physical and chemical strategies for synthesizing 2DM/molecule hybrid systems.

Gigantic Current Control of Coercive Field and Magnetic Memory Based on Nanometer-Thin Ferromagnetic van der Waals Fe3GeTe2

Kaixuan Zhang et al.

Summary: The research found that a small current can tune the magnetic state of van der Waals ferromagnet Fe3GeTe2, reducing the coercive field. This is possible because the current generates a highly unusual spin-orbit torque for Fe3GeTe2, and a new model of magnetic memory controlled by a tiny current is demonstrated based on this finding.

Tailoring Superconductivity in Large-Area Single-Layer NbSe2 via Self-Assembled Molecular Adlayers

Francesco Calavalle et al.

Summary: In this study, the critical temperature of large-area NbSe2 monolayers was manipulated using ultrathin molecular adlayers. The aligned molecular dipoles within the self-assembled layers acted as a fixed gate terminal, generating a macroscopic electrostatic field on NbSe2. This manipulation resulted in significant changes in T-C, with the potential to improve air stability of NbSe2.

Exchange Bias in Weakly Interlayer-Coupled van der Waals Magnet Fe3GeTe2

Hyung Keun Gweon et al.

Summary: Research has found that vdW ferromagnet Fe3GeTe2 exhibits an exchange bias effect due to antiferromagnetic oxide layer, with magnitude and thickness dependence differing from typical thin-film systems. By proposing a potential mechanism, the distinct properties of vdW magnets are demonstrated.

Enhancement of the Coercive Field and Exchange Bias Effect in Fe3GeTe2/MnPX3 (X = S and Se) van der Waals Heterostructures

Hongwei Dai et al.

Summary: Van der Waals heterostructures of Fe3GeTe2/MnPS3 and Fe3GeTe2/MnPSe3 were fabricated through mechanical exfoliation. Observations from magneto-optical Kerr effect and reflected magnetic circular dichroism measurements showed nearly three times enhancement of coercive field, improvement of Curie temperature, and exchange bias effect in both structures. These findings may offer new insights for applied and fundamental research studies in magnetic correlations involving itinerant ferromagnets and metal thio- and selenophosphates.
