Why Do We Still Need a Stable Long Lifetime Deep Blue OLED Emitter?

Andrew Monkman

Summary: This paper discusses the demand and potential applications of deep blue organic emitters. It highlights the advantages of the hyperfluorescence scheme based on new multiresonance boron nitrogen molecules, such as DABNA type emitters. The key requirements for suitable sensitizer hosts, especially the photophysical requirements for optimal performance, are also described.

Highly Efficient and Stable Blue Organic Light-Emitting Diodes based on Thermally Activated Delayed Fluorophor with Donor-Void-Acceptor Motif

Dongdong Zhang et al.

Summary: This study proposes a novel D-void-A structure for TADF emitters, which achieves high efficiency and blue-shifted emission by connecting D and A moieties at the void position between donor and acceptor segments. Compared to the contrast D-A isomers, the TADF emitter in this study exhibits more efficient and blue-shifted emission. Additionally, the involvement of the lower HOMO-2 of the acceptor segment in conjugation provides a wider energy gap.

cis-Quinacridone-Based Delayed Fluorescence Emitters: Seemingly Old but Renewed Functional Luminogens

Hyukgi Min et al.

Summary: In this study, a material design using linear cis-quinacridone derivatives as delayed fluorescence luminogens for OLEDs was investigated. The cis-QA derivatives showed potential as narrowband deep-blue delayed fluorescence emitters with high efficiencies and color purity. The best-performing deep-blue OLEDs utilizing these cis-QA luminogens achieved up to 19.0% external electroluminescence quantum efficiencies and high color purity.

Investigating HOMO Energy Levels of Terminal Emitters for Realizing High-Brightness and Stable TADF-Assisted Fluorescence Organic Light-Emitting Diodes

Yi-Ting Lee et al.

Summary: By modifying the functional groups on the boron-nitrogen-containing skeleton, the energy level of emitters can be easily adjusted, resulting in the development of blue-emission derivatives with high photoluminescence quantum yields. OLEDs based on TADF-assisted fluorescence organic light-emitting diodes (TAF-OLEDs) show high external quantum efficiency, color purity, and brightness, with a designing principle for terminal emitters in TAF-OLEDs towards commercial display requirements.

Multi-Resonance Deep-Red Emitters with Shallow Potential-Energy Surfaces to Surpass Energy-Gap Law

Yuewei Zhang et al.

Summary: Efficient deep-red organic emitters with high quantum efficiencies were developed by constructing polycyclic heteroaromatics with multiple boron and nitrogen atoms. The introduction of specific structures led to restricted π-bonding states and shallow potential energy surfaces, enabling the emitters to achieve high quantum efficiencies in a normal planar organic light-emitting diode structure.
