Ultrasound Activation of Mechanosensory Ion Channels in Caenorhabditis Elegans

Summary: This article demonstrates the behavioral response of Caenorhabditis elegans to ultrasound stimulation mediated by the activation of mechanical sensitive MEC-4 and MEC-6 ion channels. Mutant worms with specific mutations in these ion channels show a significant decrease in behavioral response compared to the wild type. Additionally, it is found that ultrasound stimulation can directly activate neurons expressing MEC-4 and MEC-6 ion channels.
