Copper hexacyanoferrate as ultra-high rate host for aqueous ammonium ion storage

Xikun Zhang et al.

Summary: The research shows that non-metallic ammonium ions can be an efficient charge carrier to reversible insert into NH4+-rich copper hexacyanoferrate, achieving excellent rate performance and long cycling life. XRD, FTIR, and XPS reveal the reversible redox reaction essence and stable structure of N-CuHCF based on Fe3+/Fe2+ and Cu2+/Cu+ couples, providing a new option for large-scale and fast energy applications.

Toward Better Stability and Reversibility of the Mn4+/Mn2+ Double Redox Activity in Disordered Rocksalt Oxyfluoride Cathode Materials

Yasaman Shirazi Moghadam et al.

Summary: In this study, a novel Li2Mn2/3Ti1/3O2F compound was designed by combining high-valent cations with partial substitution of oxygen anions by fluorine ions, exhibiting superior electrochemical performance with a high initial discharge capacity and good cycle stability. The structural characteristics, oxidation states, and charge-transfer mechanism were investigated, revealing a double redox mechanism of Mn4+/Mn2+ and Mn-Ti structural charge compensation. These findings provide insights for the design of high-capacity DRS materials with multi-electron redox reactions.

An Alternative Charge-Storage Mechanism for High-Performance Sodium-Ion and Potassium-Ion Anodes

Yanjiao Ma et al.

Summary: The study found that Fe-doped CeO2 can serve as an active material for the negative electrode in alternative battery technologies, offering high specific capacity and excellent rate capability. The capacity increase was directly related to the off-centered Fe position and a selective reduction process, allowing for more reversible de-/insertion of sodium and potassium cations.

High-Entropy Metal-Organic Frameworks for Highly Reversible Sodium Storage

Yanjiao Ma et al.

Summary: A new approach of introducing high entropy into Prussian blue analogues (PBAs) has been developed to improve their electrochemical properties, resulting in high-entropy PBAs (HE-PBA) with quasi-zero-strain reaction mechanism. The gassing behavior of PBAs and structural degradation of HE-PBA during battery operation were also investigated, achieving nearly 100% Coulombic efficiency after optimization of the electrochemical window.
