Structuring and functionalization of non-metallic materials using direct laser interference patterning: a review

Lucinda Mulko et al.

Summary: Direct laser interference patterning (DLIP) is a laser-based surface structuring method known for its high throughput, flexibility, and resolution. While traditionally used for metallic surfaces, DLIP is gaining popularity in non-metallic materials for applications in fields such as photonics, optoelectronics, nanotechnology, and biomedicine. This review aims to collect and summarize the main findings and applications of DLIP on polymers, ceramics, composites, semiconductors, and other non-metals.

Device Performance of Emerging Photovoltaic Materials (Version 1)

Osbel Almora et al.

Summary: Emerging photovoltaics such as organic, dye-sensitized, and perovskite solar cells focus on various applications including building integration, greenhouses, wearable technology, and indoor use. Resources like the National Renewable Energy Laboratory chart and biannual efficiency tables compiled by Martin Green provide valuable information on research cell efficiencies. This alternative approach summarizes the best reports in diverse research subjects for emerging PVs, providing performance parameters as a function of the photovoltaic bandgap energy for each technology and application.

Anisotropic Resistivity Surfaces Produced in ITO Films by Laser-Induced Nanoscale Self-organization

Carmen Lopez-Santos et al.

Summary: Highly anisotropic resistivity surfaces are produced in indium tin oxide (ITO) films by nanoscale self-organization upon irradiation with a fs-laser beam operating at 1030 nm. Two types of optimized structures are observed, showing different electrical properties depending on the fluence. The compositional changes induced by laser pulses accumulation condition the LIPSS evolution and result of the structuring process.
