Topological insulator in a hexagonal plate with droplet holes

Kai Zhang et al.

Summary: This study introduces a tunable topological insulator system to produce topologically protected edge waves along a topological interface. The study proves the robustness and immunity to backscattering of these waves, as well as demonstrates their ability to be transported to different locations within the system at specific frequencies, providing a new method for acoustic guidance control.

Tunable topological valley transport in acoustic topological metamaterials

Yibao Dong et al.

Summary: A tunable acoustic topological insulator (ATI) with valley-projected edge states is proposed and engineered using a metamaterial structure, demonstrating robust edge sound transport and flexible manipulation of sound propagation paths. Theoretical analysis, numerical simulation, and experimental measurement confirm the existence of edge states, enriching the design of ATIs with tunability and offering potential applications in flexible manipulation of sound propagation.

Reconfigurable topologically protected wave propagation in metastable structure

Xiang Liu et al.

Summary: This paper investigates topologically protected wave propagation in metastable structure by mimicking the quantum valley Hall effect, achieving reconfigurable topological waveguides. Through breaking the space inversion symmetry of the unit cell and opening a topological bandgap, the non-triviality of the bandgap is verified using Berry curvature and valley Chern number. Utilizing edge modes, topologically protected waveguides immune to backscattering at sharp corners and local defects are achieved.

Robust edge states of subwavelength chiral phononic plates

Zhihui Wen et al.

Summary: This paper introduces a method to achieve strong robustness in elastic wave routing at subwavelength scale through chiral edge states, which exhibit stronger resistance to defects and perturbations. The energy harvesting powers of chiral mechanical systems show higher robustness against frequency disorder and position disorder compared to C6v designs.
