Near-infrared light triggered photodynamic and nitric oxide synergistic antibacterial nanocomposite membrane

Jing Sun et al.

Summary: A nitric oxide-assisted PDT nanocomposite membrane was developed for significantly enhanced bactericidal performances under a single near-infrared light irradiation. The generated nitric oxide exhibited a larger sterilization area compared to reactive oxygen species, demonstrating a vital complementary advantage in facilitating PDT antibacterial efficacy as proven in in vitro and in vivo tests. This type of nanocomposite membrane may have unique biomedical applications where both highly enhanced PDT antibacterial effects and deep penetration of NIR light are desired.

Multifunctional l-arginine-based magnetic nanoparticles for multiple-synergistic tumor therapy

Haiyan Yang et al.

Summary: This study presents high-intensity focused ultrasound-responsive magnetic nanoparticles for synergistic breast cancer therapy, showing enhanced therapeutic effects by accumulating and retaining at the tumor site under magnetic guidance. The nanoparticles exhibit synergistic therapeutic effects through rational combination of ultrasound-based tumor ablation and nitric oxide-assisted antitumor gas therapy, resulting in effective tumor growth suppression.

Advanced nitric oxide donors: chemical structure of NO drugs, NO nanomedicines and biomedical applications

Yueqi Yang et al.

Summary: Nitric oxide (NO) plays a key regulatory role in many physiological and pathological processes, and NO gas therapy has attracted increasing attention as a promising treatment method. Despite efforts to develop various NO donors, controlling the long-term release of NO remains challenging. Through support from nanomaterials, spatial and temporal controlled release of NO can be achieved.
