In Situ Visualization of Optoelectronic Behavior of Grain Boundaries in Monolayer WSe2 at the Nanoscale

Weitao Su et al.

Summary: The optoelectronic behavior of grain boundaries (GBs) in monolayer (1L) WSe2 was investigated using a combination of tip-enhanced optical microscopy and electrical-mode atomic force microscopy. The study showed that the variation in optoelectronic behavior at the GBs is caused by dislocation structures and midgap states generated in the GBs. This understanding of 1L WSe2's optoelectronic properties is important for high-performance optoelectronic devices.

Oxygen-facilitated dynamic active-site generation on strained MoS2 during photo-catalytic hydrogen evolution

Longlu Wang et al.

Summary: It is found that the synthesis strategy of oxygen substitution in MoS2 can enhance its catalytic performance in the hydrogen evolution reaction, resulting in an increased hydrogen production rate. Proper oxygen substitution and strain can modulate the surface electronic state of MoS2, optimizing the Gibbs free energy and accelerating the catalytic efficiency.

Analytical Calculation of Exciton Binding Energy, Quasi-Particle Band Gap and Optical Gap in Strained Mono-layer MoS2

S. Ahmad et al.

Summary: This study introduces a new analytical approach to calculate the impact of strained binding energies on the optical gap of 2D materials, showing that the changes in optical gap caused by strained binding energies can be accurately predicted using a mathematical model. The research demonstrates that as strain increases, the optical gap experiences a blueshift, while the sensitivity of binding energy to strain decreases with structural changes.

Summary: This study achieved uniform oxygen doping of wafer-scale monolayer MoS2 and found a reduction in bandgaps with increased oxygen-doping levels. Devices fabricated based on these doped MoS2 monolayers demonstrated excellent electronic performances, showing promise for their potential large-scale applications in electronics.

Trion Binding Energy Variation on Photoluminescence Excitation Energy and Power during Direct to Indirect Bandgap Crossover in Monolayer and Few-Layer MoS2

Sergii Golovynskyi et al.

Summary: The photoluminescence behavior of trion and exciton in monolayer and few-layer CVD-MoS2 flakes grown on SiO2/Si under different laser excitation conditions is studied. The trion component in the A exciton range increases with the number of layers, and intensifies faster than the A exciton with increasing laser power. The binding energy of trion increases with power of excitation light, leading to redshifting and asymmetry of A exciton/trion PL band with higher excitation energies.

Spontaneous Polarity Flipping in a 2D Heterobilayer Induced by Fluctuating Interfacial Carrier Flows

Hua Li et al.

Summary: A spontaneous and stochastic polarity-flipping phenomenon has been discovered in monolayer WSe2, triggered by fluctuating carrier flows from or to the adjacent WS2 monolayer. This leads to switching between negative and positive correlations between the emission intensities of WS2 and WSe2 in the heterobilayer.
