Quantum-Rod On-Chip LEDs for Display Backlights with Efficacy of 149 lm W-1: A Step toward 200 lm W-1

Chengbin Kang et al.

Summary: Efficient white light-emitting diodes (LEDs) with an efficacy of 200 lm W-1 are much desired for lighting and displays. Current phosphor-based LEDs in use for display applications offer poor color saturation, leading to intensive efforts to replace phosphor with quantum-dot-based downconverters to improve efficiency and stability. In this study, gradient alloyed CdSe/ZnxCd1-xS/ZnS and CdSe/CdS/ZnS core/shell/shell quantum rods (QRs) downconverters show high efficacy LEDs and wide color gamut.

Recent Progress of Quantum Dot-Based Photonic Devices and Systems: A Comprehensive Review of Materials, Devices, and Applications

Jaehyun Kim et al.

Summary: Photonic technologies have seen increased interest in high-performance sensor devices, particularly in the use of multifunctional photodetectors based on low-dimensional nanomaterials. Semiconducting quantum dots show promise for these applications due to their optical absorption coefficient, bandgap tunability, and compatibility with large-scale production processes. The research delves into materials, devices, applications, and hybrid device architectures to advance wearable photodetectors and neuromorphic applications. Challenges and opportunities for QD-based photonic devices are also discussed with a forward-looking perspective.
