Coupling Ni-substituted polyoxometalate catalysts with water-soluble CdSe quantum dots for ultraefficient photogeneration of hydrogen under visible light

Mo Zhang et al.

Summary: This study reports a water-compatible, robust, and ultraefficient hydrogen-evolving system by coupling water-soluble CdSe light-absorbers with Ni-POM catalysts and AA electron donor. The catalytic system exhibits superior and robust hydrogen production activity among known semiconductor/POM hybrids, with confirmed molecular stability of Ni-POM catalysts under turnover conditions. The exceptional performance of the catalytic system is attributed to the synergistic cooperation between CdSe light-absorber, Ni-POM catalyst, and AA electron donor.

Spin-Electric Coupling in a Cobalt(II)-Based Spin Triangle Revealed by Electric-Field-Modulated Electron Spin Resonance Spectroscopy

Benjamin Kintzel et al.

Summary: A cobalt(II)-based spin triangle exhibits significant spin-electric coupling, with an intra-triangle antiferromagnetic interaction leading to spin frustration. The separation of energy-degenerate ground doublets is attributed to magnetic anisotropy and deviations from threefold symmetry. The observed spin-electric effect under an electric field has a quantified value comparable to a Cu-3 triangle despite different antiferromagnetic interaction strengths.

A spiro-OMeTAD based semiconductor composite with over 100 °C glass transition temperature for durable perovskite solar cells

Yutong Ren et al.

Summary: The study focuses on improving the durability of perovskite solar cells by blending commercial polymer and organic salt with spiro-OMeTAD to create a high-performance organic composite material. This composite material can achieve high efficiency perovskite solar cells at 85 degrees Celsius and shows good control over charge transport, interfacial recombination, and hole extraction. Multiple experimental measurements and molecular dynamics modeling reveal the crucial impact of organic coatings on the thermal decomposition of hybrid perovskites from a new perspective of gas diffusion modulation.
