Microfluidic Screening-Assisted Machine Learning to Investigate Vertical Phase Separation of Small Molecule:Polymer Blend

Jeong-Chan Lee et al.

Summary: A microfluidic screening-embedded thin-film processing technique is developed to accelerate the correlation analysis between experimental parameters and device performance in solution-based thin-film processing. Machine learning models predict transistor performance and Gaussian Process Regression (GPR) algorithms are used to narrow down the parameter space and investigate phase separation.

Operationally Stable Ultrathin Organic Field Effect Transistors Based on Siloxane Dimers of Benzothieno[3,2-b][1]Benzothiophene Suitable for Ethanethiol Detection

Askold A. Trul et al.

Summary: This study investigates the electrical and sensing properties of ultrathin OFETs based on BTBT dimers with different aliphatic spacer lengths, fabricated by Langmuir-Blodgett, Langmuir-Schaefer, or spin-coating techniques. By optimizing the interface dielectric layer, uniform low-defect ultrathin semiconducting layers are obtained, resulting in improved electrical performance. The highest field-effect mobility of 0.47 cm(2) V-1 s(-1) is achieved for devices fabricated by LS method on top of a poly(methyl methacrylate) interface layer. The promising operational stability leads to advanced sensory properties, with a record limit of detection of 30 ppb for sensing ethanethiol in humid air.

Water-Surface Drag Coating: A New Route Toward High-Quality Conjugated Small-Molecule Thin Films with Enhanced Charge Transport Properties

Wei Deng et al.

Summary: The water-surface drag coating method demonstrated in this study facilitates the fabrication of high-quality OSC thin films by altering the evaporation dynamics of the solution and achieving unidirectional growth of organic crystals. This method leads to significant enhancement in charge transport properties and enables direct transfer onto flexible substrates. Flexible transistors based on the resulting thin films exhibit high mobility values, representing a promising approach for high-performance organic flexible electronics.

Synthesis, characterization and organic field-effect transistors applications of novel tetrathienoacene derivatives

Oleg V. Borshchev et al.

Summary: Two novel organic semiconductors were synthesized with TTA as the central core and end-capped with 5-hexyl-2-thiophene, (Hex-T)(2)-TTA, and 4-hexyl-phenyl, (Hex-Ph)(2)-TTA, for organic field effect transistor (OFET) applications. Characterization and studies were conducted on these TTA derivatives using various techniques and density functional theory calculations. Both TTA derivatives showed electroluminescence in OFETs, with (Hex-Ph)(2)-TTA exhibiting high hole mobility.

Fully integrated ultra-sensitive electronic nose based on organic field-effect transistors

Daniil S. Anisimov et al.

Summary: Modern solid-state gas sensors have reached a detection limit approaching ppb levels, with applications in process control, environmental monitoring, and exhaled breath analysis. Organic field-effect transistors (OFETs) show great promise for gas sensing due to their sensitivity, low cost, and low power consumption. However, they face challenges in selectivity and environmental stability, which can be addressed through the development of cross-selective arrays and proper analysis techniques. The newly developed integrated OFET-based electronic nose demonstrates high sensitivity and can differentiate toxic air pollutants, paving the way for affordable air sensing networks in the Internet of Things.
