Highly Functional Dinuclear CuI-Complex Photosensitizers for Photocatalytic CO2 Reduction

Hiroyuki Takeda et al.

Summary: Two dinuclear Cu(I) complexes were synthesized, with one showing outstanding redox photosensitizing properties for photocatalytic CO2 reduction. A Fe(II) complex was used as the catalyst, resulting in a 14.1% quantum yield of CO production. The Cu dimer displayed significant durability and a high turnover number in the reaction.

Supramolecular photocatalysts fixed on the inside of the polypyrrole layer in dye sensitized molecular photocathodes: application to photocatalytic CO2 reduction coupled with water oxidation

Fazalurahman Kuttassery et al.

Summary: A novel dye-sensitized molecular photocathode for photocatalytic CO2 reduction in water has been developed, showing improved reactivity and durability with the incorporation of a polypyrrole network. The photocathode, when coupled with n-type semiconductor photoanodes, achieves a high faradaic efficiency in reducing CO2 to CO and HCOOH under visible light with the highest IPCE of 4.7%. This artificial Z-scheme photoelectrochemical cell demonstrates the highest energy conversion efficiency of 8.3 x 10(-2)% under dual visible light irradiation.
