Effect of different fibers (steel fibers, glass fibers, and carbon fibers) on mechanical properties of reactive powder concrete

Syed Safdar Raza et al.

Summary: The study investigated the performance of reactive powder concrete (RPC) reinforced with different types of single fibers and hybrid fibers. Results showed that CF-RPC performed better in compression, while single SF-RPC had superior splitting tensile and flexural strength. The combination of 1% SF and 1% CF yielded the best overall mechanical performance among the fibers tested, with a higher contribution towards flexural strength.

Influence of different fibers on mechanical and durability performance of concrete with silica fume

Babar Ali et al.

Summary: The study enhanced the durability and ductility of plain cement concrete (PC) by incorporating fibers and supplementary cementitious materials simultaneously. Silica fume improved the efficiency of fibers in resisting tensile and flexural loads, as well as reducing water absorption and chloride penetration of the concrete. The composite effect of fiber and silica fume was found to be more beneficial than their individual incorporation effects.
