Summary: The focus on social equity in the design and implementation of PES may contribute to the success of achieving social-environmental goals, according to a survey of PES practitioners in Latin American countries. This suggests that concerns for social equity are not only advocated from a normative stance, but also for instrumental reasons in enhancing PES success.
