The impact of non-residential grandchild care on physical activity and sedentary behavior in people aged 50years and over: study protocol of the Healthy Grandparenting Project

Summary: The study aims to investigate the levels of physical activity and sedentary behavior in caregiving grandparents, compared with non-caregiving grandparents and non-grandparents, while identifying predictors of potential changes over time. The research will run over a period of 2 years with three test occasions and the results are expected to contribute to the development of health campaigns for older adults.

The Mental Health Well-Being of Grandparents Raising Grandchildren: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

Summary: The meta-analysis of six studies suggests that custodial grandparents raising grandchildren are more likely to experience adverse mental health outcomes compared to their non-parenting counterparts. This finding adds to the existing evidence of their emotional vulnerability and calls for further research in this area.
