Nonlinear Modeling of Subsidence From a Decade of InSAR Time Series

Seo-Woo Park et al.

Summary: Our study in Busan, South Korea, revealed ongoing ground subsidence in coastal reclaimed land since 2001, with a maximum subsidence rate and acceleration estimated using a hyperbolic model. Decomposition of vertical and horizontal motion indicated both weak horizontal displacement and significant vertical deformation. Despite almost two decades passing since the reclamation project completed, ground subsidence continues to occur.

Nationwide urban ground deformation monitoring in Japan using Sentinel-1 LiCSAR products and LiCSBAS

Yu Morishita

Summary: Ground subsidence in urban areas is a significant problem that requires continual monitoring for early detection and mitigation. This study used LiCSAR products and LiCSBAS to derive detailed deformation time series and velocities for 73 major urban areas in Japan from 2014 to 2020, revealing various temporal and spatial features of ground deformation signals. The approach of nationwide monitoring using LiCSAR products and LiCSBAS is easy to implement and can be applied to other regions globally.

Co-Seismic Inversion and Post-Seismic Deformation Mechanism Analysis of 2019 California Earthquake

Chengsheng Yang et al.

Summary: By utilizing satellite images and modeling inversion, studying the deformation field and seismic source mechanism of seismic events in Eastern California, it was discovered that earthquakes in the region are mainly strike-slip, and the seismic moment caused by aftershock slip was 4.24 x 10(26) N x m, approximately equivalent to Mw 7.06. The deformation evolution is primarily influenced by afterslip.
