Field measured and simulated performance of a stone columns-strengthened soft clay deposit

Bruno T. Lima et al.

Summary: This paper presents a study on the field behaviour of a stone columns-reinforced soft foundation through a comparison with numerical analysis. The results show that the numerical model can predict the deformations and excess pore pressure variations of the reinforced foundation effectively.

Deformation and Stability Analysis of Embankment over Stone Column-Strengthened Soft Ground

Ali Ghorbani et al.

Summary: The study investigated the influence of stone columns and basal geosynthetic on deformations and stability of an embankment over soft deposit. The results showed that stone columns significantly reduced total deformations of the subsoil, while a high stiffness basal geogrid improved the stability of the embankment.

Behavior of granular column-improved clay under cyclic shear loading

Ehsan Aghili et al.

Summary: The use of a granular column was found to significantly improve the cyclic shear resistance of treated clay, especially during the initial loading cycles. Increasing the column diameter and aggregates relative density can further enhance this improvement, while increasing the number of loading cycles decreases the damping ratio.

Field-measured Poisson's ratio of geotextile-encased granular column

Iman Hosseinpour et al.

Summary: This study investigates the variation of Poisson's ratio of composite material GEC by using real-time measurement of radial and vertical deformations. The results indicate that the field Poisson's ratio significantly changes due to the increase in vertical stress from embankment construction and the higher degree of soil consolidation.
