Relating latent class membership to external variables: An overview

Zsuzsa Bakk et al.

Summary: This article provides an overview of existing approaches for relating latent class membership to external variables of interest, building on the work of Nylund-Gibson et al. It summarizes models with distal outcomes and recommended modeling options for models with covariates and multiple latent variables. The article also demonstrates modeling approaches using data from the General Social Survey and discusses software availability.

Exploring the Enumeration Accuracy of Cross-Validation Indices in Latent Class Analysis

Tiffany A. Whittaker et al.

Summary: The study compared the performance of traditional single sample enumeration indices and cross-validation indices in selecting the correct latent class model, finding that the traditional sample-size adjusted BIC index was the most accurate among all indices, and the performance of the double cross-validated -2LL index was also promising. Recommendations were provided.
