This study explores how technological capabilities enhance supply chain agility for small and medium-sized travel agencies (SMTA). It proposes a tourism supply chain agility model based on the structure-conduct-performance and resource dependence perspectives. The findings indicate that EMSs have become strategically important and valuable for SMTA. The flexibility and supplier connections provided by EMSs are increasingly crucial for SMTA, and leveraging the analytical capabilities of EMSs can give SMTA a specific competitive advantage and lead to superior performance.
This study analyzes how technological capabilities improve supply chain agility for small and medium-sized travel agencies (SMTA). It develops a tourism supply chain agility model based on the structure-conduct-performance and resource dependence perspectives. In total, we received 118 returned and completed questionnaires. The strategic importance and value of EMSs have increased for SMTA. Additionally, flexibility and supplier connections to tourism supply chains expected from EMSs are increasingly important, and when leveraging the analytical capabilities of an EMS, this creates a specific competitive advantage for SMTA, who will develop an adequate level of integration to achieve superior performance by EMSs.
