Climate change, COVID-19, and the co-production of injustices: a feminist reading of overlapping crises

Summary: Since 2020, the overlapping global socio-ecological crises of climate change and the COVID-19 pandemic have dominated discussions, revealing structural inequities and systemic marginalizations across different scales and locations. The ongoing climate change amplifies, compounds, and creates new forms of injustices and stresses, while the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic has also co-created new challenges, vulnerabilities, and burdens. An intersectional analysis of these interconnected global crises highlights the importance of investigating and addressing them simultaneously through a feminist lens to understand the co-production of injustices structurally, materially, and discursively.
