Gender norms and marriage satisfaction: Evidence from China

Summary: The study found that married couples are less satisfied with their marriage if the wife earns more than the husband, especially when the husband's satisfaction decreases, it has a larger impact on the overall marriage satisfaction. Husbands may be influenced by the traditional gender division norm and can respond to their wives' gender role preferences.
