The impact of endoscopic thoracic sympathectomy on sudomotor function in patients with palmar hyperhidrosis

Naomi Hirakawa et al.

Summary: Sweating parameters in patients with palmar hyperhidrosis were significantly reduced after ETS, with little response to mental stress. Preoperatively, these patients had significantly higher sweating parameters compared to healthy subjects. At > 1 year after ETS, the basal sweating rate increased to a level similar to that of healthy volunteers, although the peak sweating rate did not respond to mental stress.

A Wearable Nutrition Tracker

Jiangqi Zhao et al.

Summary: A wearable sensor has been developed to selectively measure vitamin C concentration in biofluids using an electrochemical sensor with wide detection linearity, high selectivity, and long-term stability. The effects of vitamin C intake on sweat and urine were explored, showing that sweat and urine analysis could be promising methods for monitoring nutrition levels. The sensor has the potential to facilitate applications such as nutritional screening and dietary intervention.

Laminar flow ventilation system to prevent airborne infection during exercise in the COVID-19 crisis: A single-center observational study

Yoshinori Katsumata et al.

Summary: This study investigated the relationship between aerosol generation and exercise intensity on a treadmill, as well as the effect of a laminar airflow ventilation system (LFVS) on aerosol removal during anaerobic exercise. The results showed a significant increase in respiratory droplets after reaching the lactate threshold, but a decrease in droplets >= 0.3 μm after using LFVS, indicating its efficacy in reducing aerosols during intense exercise.

A novel device for detecting anaerobic threshold using sweat lactate during exercise

Yuta Seki et al.

Summary: The study successfully visualized the changes in lactate concentration in sweat during exercise using a wearable lactate sensor, showing a strong correlation between sweat LT1, blood LT1, and VT1. Continuous monitoring of lactate concentrations provided additional information for detecting the ventilatory threshold.

Fully Printed Wearable Microfluidic Devices for High-Throughput Sweat Sampling and Multiplexed Electrochemical Analysis

Rajendran Vinoth et al.

Summary: This study presents a method for fabricating wearable microfluidic sensors without the need for a clean room, with improved sweat sampling efficiency and real-time monitoring of sweat chemical markers during exercise. The sensors demonstrate sensitivity, selectivity, stability, carryover efficiency, and repeatability, showing potential for personalized healthcare and sports applications.
