Computer-based guidance to support students' revision of their science explanations

Libby Gerard et al.

Summary: The study investigated the added value of using the Annotator compared to automated, adaptive guidance in supporting students' integrated revisions to their science explanations. It found that students who initially displayed unintegrated ideas were more likely to make integrated revisions and achieve greater knowledge integration with the Annotator tool. Modeling revision with the Annotator strengthened the ability of students to explain scientific phenomena.
