Summary: The study found that in a booming ASM town in Peru, ASM activities did not physically displace communities or other livelihoods as is often the case with large-scale mines. Acceptance for ASM was found to be fragile and under threat from factors such as rapid growth, immigration, and uncertainty about water contamination.
