Summary: Fairtrade International's theory of change includes fair trade, small farmer and farm worker empowerment, and sustainable livelihoods for producers in the Global South. The implementation of the Fairtrade imaginary relies on voluntary standards, with a central component being the social premium. Studies show that separated decision-making processes can increase participation and accountability in the use of the premium.

Summary: Consumer demand plays a crucial role in driving food systems transitions, and food policies have increasingly focused on increasing consumer responsibility to steer food consumption. However, there remains a gap between sustainable consumption goals and related forms of responsibility, particularly at the institutional level and within households. An experimental tool implemented by local institutions, based on collective experimentation, aims to address responsibility concerns. This tool facilitates collective problematisation and experimentation, leading to greater reflexivity about one's habits and the potential integration of new practices. Although this tool primarily targets household-level responsibilisation processes, collective questioning and experimentation can also identify barriers to habit change and enable transformative change at this level. To achieve broader changes in the food system, it would be necessary to involve a more diverse group of actors beyond just consumers.

Summary: Digital technologies are seen as an opportunity for sustainable development in agriculture and rural areas, but the transformation process can have various impacts that require responsible research and innovation approaches for better understanding and mitigation. A framework has been developed to gain insight on the relations between social, cyber, and physical aspects, and conditions for successful digital transformation have been described, focusing on design, access, and system complexity navigation. This framework provides a better understanding of moral responsibilities in digital transformation and helps identify who is responsible for the impacts.

Summary: This article uses convention theory to examine how justifications by alternative protein companies have shifted from civic concerns to a wider range of reasons, such as financial, status, and traditions. The results challenge theories claiming these companies aim to promote civic concerns, and suggest that alternative proteins can contribute to responsible consumption through distributed responsibility.

Summary: Multi-stakeholder initiatives in the food system, such as Field to Market, establish metrics and collect data to measure sustainability, shifting responsibility from the state to the private sector. These initiatives promise continuous improvements in agricultural sustainability and accountability, while also facilitating the coordination of supply chains and reframing the meaning of sustainability.

Summary: Social science research emphasizes the proliferation of metric-based forms of accountability in contemporary governance, and the important role that meetings play in establishing and shaping accountability. By situating meetings as agentic elements in a configuration of human and non-human actors, the study shows how they not only shape technocratic forms of governance but also strengthen political ontologies of governance.

Summary: Recent scientific publications have urged significant reductions in meat consumption to mitigate the negative impacts of the food system on the planet. However, the public debate surrounding this issue is complex and involves competing narratives on plant-based and alternative-protein diets. Analyzing Twitter data, the study found that #eatlessmeat tweets generated more mentions and diverse content compared to #sustainablemeat tweets. Additionally, commercially invested users were prominent on Twitter, using the platform for marketing purposes.
