Summary: This study found that consumers who are eager to build their self-concept are more likely to purchase counterfeit luxury brands, with conspicuous consumption and emotional attachment mediating the relationship between self-brand connection and intention to buy counterfeit luxury brands. Perceived counterfeit detection also plays an important role in the decision-making process of purchasing counterfeit luxury brands.
