Inner Harmony as an Essential Facet of Well-Being: A Multinational Study During the COVID-19 Pandemic

David F. Carreno et al.

Summary: This study explored the roles of two models of well-being, namely PERMA and mature happiness, in predicting psychological distress during the COVID-19 pandemic. The findings suggest that mature happiness is a better predictor of stress, anxiety, and general distress, while PERMA is more predictive of depression. Both models were found to be negative predictors of psychological distress, with mature happiness playing a more significant role in moderating the impacts of the pandemic on distress levels. These results highlight the importance of considering inner harmony as a crucial facet of well-being and can guide policies aimed at promoting well-being to mitigate the negative effects of the pandemic on mental health.

A systematic qualitative case study: questions, data collection, NVivo analysis and saturation

Md. Kausar Alam

Summary: This study explores the case study method for developing a centralized Shariah governance framework for Islamic banks in Bangladesh, focusing on question formation, data collection procedures, analysis, and saturation. Findings suggest that qualitative research questions can be formed using "what" questions, and saturation is achieved when researchers reach the ultimate point of data collection without adding anything to the databank. The study proposes three stages of saturation: information redundancy, referring respondents without knowledge of data collection, and NVivo open coding process.
