MutS protein-based fiber optic particle plasmon resonance biosensor for detecting single nucleotide polymorphisms

Loan Thi Ngo et al.

Summary: A new biosensing method utilizing MutS protein and fiber optic particle plasmon resonance (FOPPR) sensing system has been developed to detect gene mutations with high sensitivity (limit of detection down to 0.49 nM) and short analysis time (as short as 15 min). Validation using patient samples has shown accurate determination of allelic fraction, making this method a promising tool for detecting single nucleotide polymorphisms in biological samples at point-of-care sites.

Thymine-Functionalized Gold Nanoparticles (Au NPs) for a Highly Sensitive Fiber-Optic Surface Plasmon Resonance Mercury Ion Nanosensor

Huizhen Yuan et al.

Summary: A highly sensitive and selective fiber-optic surface plasmon resonance (SPR) chemical nanosensor for Hg2+ ion detection was developed in this study by using thymine-modified gold nanoparticles as signal amplification tags. The sensor showed excellent sensitivity and selectivity for Hg2+ ions, providing a potential platform for on-site determination of Hg2+ ions.

Highly sensitive and Rapid detection of mercury in water using functionalized etched fiber Bragg grating sensors

B. S. Kavitha et al.

Summary: An effective optical method using CNC bolaamphiphile functionalised eFBG sensor has been developed for selective and rapid detection of mercury (Hg2+) in drinking water. The sensor shows a linear response to thiol-Hg2+ coordination with a LOD of 100nM. Coated with CNC, the sensor achieves a LOD of 1pM with a dynamic range from 1pM to 1μM, showing repeatability and specificity in the presence of interfering metals. The sensor has potential to be a highly sensitive, selective, portable, real-time, on-site optical probe for Hg2+ detection in drinking water.
