Magnetic heterojunction of oxygen-deficient Ti3--TiO2 and Ar-Fe2O3 derived from metal-organic frameworks for efficient peroxydisulfate (PDS) photo-activation

Meiying Jia et al.

Summary: This study successfully addressed the issues of light collection and separation of nano-catalysts in the slurry-system by fabricating a magnetic Ti3+-TiO2/Ar-Fe2O3 type II heterojunction. The proposed system showed excellent degradation ability in multiple antibiotics and real samples, offering a new chance for the photo-activation of peroxydisulfate (PDS). The high light collection ability and exposed Fe clusters in Ar-Fe2O3, coupled with suitable energy band levels of Ti3+-TiO2/Ar-Fe2O3, enhanced carrier separation rates and led to the production of active species for oxidizing NOR.

Photoelectrochemistry of Au Nanocluster-Sensitized TiO2: Intricacy Arising from the Light-Induced Transformation of Nanoclusters into Nanoparticles

Rizwan Khan et al.

Summary: Investigating photoelectrode interfaces is challenging due to complex charge carrier pathways, and photodegradation can significantly alter interfacial properties. The photodegradation of Au nanoclusters results in the formation of photoactive Au nanoparticles that can form Schottky barriers with TiO2, affecting interfacial band structures. The injection of electrons into TiO2 and subsequent electron trapping at deep surface trap states play a vital role in the photodegradation process, while the enhancement of photocurrent is attributed to multiple overlooked effects of Au NPs.

Univariate Lattice Parameter Modulation of Single-Crystal-like Anatase TiO2 Hierarchical Nanowire Arrays to Improve Photoactivity

Wei Wen et al.

Summary: Strain engineering is an effective method for optimizing the properties of materials, but traditional methods that impose strain from an additional substrate can disrupt investigations into the effects of lattice parameters. This study introduces a novel precursor-induced growing method to elongate the lattice parameter of anatase TiO2, resulting in enhanced photocatalytic activity and reduction capability without changing the material's composition, morphology, phase, or surface states.

Visible-light driven ZnIn2S4/TiO2-x heterostructure for boosting photocatalytic H2 evolution

Yifan Wang et al.

Summary: The combination of Ti3+ doped TiO2-x with ZnIn2S4 resulted in a novel photocatalyst with improved hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) performance compared to TiO2-x alone. The formation of a Type II heterojunction enhanced the separation of photogenerated carriers and electron transfer rate, leading to higher hydrogen evolution rate.

Direct Z-scheme TiO2-ZnIn2S4 nanoflowers for cocatalyst-free photocatalytic water splitting

Gancheng Zuo et al.

Summary: Constructing direct Z-scheme heterojunction (DZH) is crucial for improving the efficiency and stability of catalysts for photocatalytic water splitting. In this study, ultrathin TiO2 nanosheets were integrated into ZnIn2S4 to produce TiO2-ZnIn2S4 heterostructure nanoflowers, enhancing the overall system performance. The optimized DZH nanoflowers exhibit enhanced PWS activity and excellent stability, making them promising candidates for efficient water splitting applications.
