The Correlation Between Endolymphatic Hydrops and blood-labyrinth barrier Permeability of Meniere Disease

Weidong Zhang et al.

Summary: By intravenous administration of gadolinium contrast, the grades of endolymphatic hydrops in Meniere's disease can be quantitatively evaluated, showing a significantly higher signal intensity ratio in affected ears compared to unaffected ears. There is a positive correlation between the signal intensity ratio and the grades of cochlear and vestibular hydrops in the affected ear.

The relationship between cochleovestibular function tests and endolymphatic hydrops grading on MRI in patients with Meniere's disease

Morgana Sluydts et al.

Summary: The study investigated the relationship between cochleovestibular function and an MRI-based classification system of endolymphatic hydrops in patients with Meniere's disease. Results showed that only the highest grades of cochlear and vestibular EH were associated with decreased cochleovestibular functioning.

Isolated Saccular Hydrops on High-resolution MRI Is Associated With Full Spectrum Meniere's Disease

Anne K. Maxwell et al.

Summary: This clinical case series study revealed that most patients with isolated saccular endolymphathic hydrops (EH) present with mild-to-severe low-frequency fluctuating hearing loss, with accompanying vertigo and sudden sensorineural hearing loss. Some patients also experienced Tumarkin falls. MRI plays a crucial role in understanding the pathophysiology of Meniere's disease and delayed endolymphatic hydrops.

The relationship between clinical characteristics and magnetic resonance imaging results of Meniere disease: a prospective study

Wen Xie et al.

Summary: Meniere's disease is an idiopathic inner ear disorder with no definitive diagnostic standard. Research has shown that intratympanic gadolinium-based contrast media MRI can visualize endolymphatic hydrops, providing reliable radiological diagnostic criteria for MD. The diagnostic sensitivity and specificity of MRI were found to be 79.2% and 80.7% respectively.
