Carcass Composition, Meat Quality and Sensory Quality of Gentile di Puglia Light Lambs: Effects of Dietary Supplementation with Oregano and Linseed

Giuseppe Scarpa et al.

Summary: This study investigates the impact of diet supplementation on the carcass composition, meat quality, and sensory attributes of an Italian native ovine breed. The results show that adding extruded linseed and a mixed ration to the diet can improve the fatty acid profile of lamb meat without affecting growth performance or slaughter data. The combination of extruded linseed and oregano seems to be particularly effective in reducing saturated fatty acids and improving the overall healthy properties of the meat.

In Vitro Screening of East Asian Plant Extracts for Potential Use in Reducing Ruminal Methane Production

Rajaraman Bharanidharan et al.

Summary: The experiment screened 137 plant species from East Asian countries to select promising anti-methanogenic candidates, identifying Pharbitis nil seed extract as a potential alternative to mitigate methane production. Eight plant extracts showed anti-methanogenic activities, with all extracts decreasing ammonia concentrations.

Comparison of enteric methane yield and diversity of ruminal methanogens in cattle and buffaloes fed on the same diet

P. K. Malik et al.

Summary: An in vivo study compared enteric methane emissions and diversity of ruminal methanogens in cattle and buffaloes fed on the same diet in the same environment. Results showed significantly higher daily methane emissions in cattle compared to buffaloes, but no difference in methane yields between the two species.
