Predictive Value of Single or Combined Ultrasound Signs in the Diagnosis of Ovarian Torsion

Summary: Ultrasound has a high positive predictive value as the first-choice imaging modality in diagnosing adnexal torsion. Combinations of specific ultrasound signs, including abnormal adnexal position, relative enlargement of the ovary, twisted vascular pedicle, and follicular edema ring sign, help narrow down the differential diagnosis in these cases. The presence of twisted vascular pedicle and follicular ring sign showed 100% specificity for a positive ovarian torsion diagnosis.
