Intravenous paracetamol in comparison with ibuprofen for the treatment of patent ductus arteriosus in preterm infants: a randomized controlled trial

Carlo Dani et al.

Summary: This study aimed to compare the efficacy and safety of intravenous paracetamol and ibuprofen in treating hemodynamically significant patent ductus arteriosus in preterm infants. Results showed that ibuprofen was more effective in closing the ductus than paracetamol, but both drugs had similar effects on ductal constriction.

The relationship between platelet indices and patent ductus arteriosus in preterm infants: a systematic review and meta-analysis

Ran Ding et al.

Summary: This meta-analysis explored the relationship between platelet parameters and hemodynamically significant PDA in premature infants. The findings suggest that platelet count, plateletcrit, and platelet mass within the first 3 days of life may be helpful in identifying premature infants at risk of hsPDA. Prospective studies on different degrees of thrombocytopenia and platelet function in relation to hsPDA are recommended for future research.

Patent ductus arteriosus shunt elimination results in a reduction in adverse outcomes: a post hoc analysis of the PDA RCT cohort

Summary: The study found that early closure of the patent ductus arteriosus in preterm infants may reduce the occurrence of respiratory morbidity, with lower chronic lung disease or death rates compared to infants with prolonged duct exposure.
