Summary: This study analyzed the tissues of two horses with glanders using PCR and confirmed the presence of B. mallei, with a genotype closely related to strains isolated in the Middle East. Recommendations were made regarding the use of PCR systems for molecular diagnosis of glanders in regions where B. mallei strains have not been fully characterized genetically.
