Roles of pulmonary telocytes in airway epithelia to benefit experimental acute lung injury through production of telocyte-driven mediators and exosomes

Li Tang et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates that telocytes (TCs) play a direct role in the amelioration of experimental acute lung injury (ALI) through the release of exosomes. These exosomes promote anti-inflammatory effects and repair processes, and nourish airway epithelial cells by providing nutrients and enhancing cell proliferation and differentiation.

Cancer-associated fibroblasts: overview, progress, challenges, and directions

Qinrong Ping et al.

Summary: Tumors are a leading cause of death in humans, and developing safe and effective methods for early diagnosis and treatment is crucial. The tumor microenvironment (TME) plays a key role in regulating tumor behavior, with cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) being important regulators. However, the heterogeneity and functions of CAFs present challenges in research and treatment.

Morpho-functional changes of cardiac telocytes in isolated atrial amyloidosis in patients with atrial fibrillation

Tatyana V. Sukhacheva et al.

Summary: Telocytes in patients with atrial fibrillation and atrial fibrillation with isolated atrial amyloidosis exhibit ultrastructural signs of synthetic, proliferative, and phagocytic activity, and show various immunophenotypes. Despite no significant differences in morphology and immunophenotype of telocytes among patients with different forms of atrial fibrillation, CD68-positive cells are more commonly detected in patients with atrial fibrillation and isolated atrial amyloidosis. In aged patients with atrial fibrillation and isolated atrial amyloidosis, remodeling of atrial myocardium may lead to the transformation of telocytes into transitional forms with characteristics of fibroblast-, histiocyte-, and endotheliocyte-like cells.

Xianshu Chen et al.

Summary: Telocytes (TCs), a novel type of interstitial cells, were identified in the dermis of the silky fowl skin, showing special structural relationships with surrounding cell types. The study provides histological evidence for TCs involvement in intercellular communication, skin regeneration, and pigmentogenesis in avian skin.

Morphological Evidence of Telocytes in Skeletal Muscle Interstitium of Exercised and Sedentary Rodents

Silvia Ravalli et al.

Summary: Telocytes play an important role in skeletal muscle atrophy and exercise, with regular exercise maintaining a stable population of Telocytes compared to sedentary rats. Understanding the relationship between Telocytes and exercise may offer new opportunities in regenerative medicine and suggest possible triggers for Telocytes in sarcopenia and other musculoskeletal disorders.

Oviductal Telocytes in Patients with Uterine Myoma

Veronika Aleksandrovych et al.

Summary: Tubal factor infertility can be caused by various factors, including impaired muscular contractility and ciliary beating, immunological imbalance, and chronic inflammation. Telocytes in the fallopian tubes play a crucial role in regulating physiological processes such as local innervation, sensitivity to hypoxia, and hormone balances. Their involvement in nerve conduction and integration in contractions and cilia physiology highlight their significance in fertility research.

R. Sysak et al.

Summary: Mayer-Rokitansky-Kuster-Hauser (MRKH) syndrome is characterized by congenital absence/underdevelopment of the uterus and uterine tubes. This study examined 16 patients with MRKH syndrome and found that both nonsurgical and surgical methods for creating a neovagina can yield satisfactory results. Anatomical anomalies such as complete agenesis of the uterus and fibrous band were observed in these patients.

Telocytes, c-Kit positive cells, Smooth muscles, and collagen in the ureter of pediatric patients with congenital primary obstructive megaureter: elucidation of etiopathology

Mohamed Wishahi et al.

Summary: Congenital primary obstructive megaureter is a rare pediatric anomaly caused by obstructive distal ureter leading to loss of peristalsis and kidney function. The study aimed to elucidate the etiology by demonstrating the presence of specific cells and proteins in obstructive and dilated ureteral segments. The pathophysiology involves multiple factors, including loss of elasticity in dilated segment and muscle conductivity in obstructed segment.
