Medicinal plants used against hepatic disorders in Bangladesh: A comprehensive review

Rajib Das et al.

Summary: The study summarizes the processes of hepatotoxicity induced by various toxins and explores identified hepatoprotective plants and their phytoconstituents, providing new directions for treating liver injury. Through literature searches and comprehensive analysis, it is found that a variety of plants offer good pharmacological evidence that can be used in the treatment of hepatic disorders.

Probiotic Enhancement of Antioxidant Capacity and Alterations of Gut Microbiota Composition in 6-Hydroxydopamin-Induced Parkinson's Disease Rats

Shu-Ping Tsao et al.

Summary: Supplementation with Lactobacillus salivarius AP-32 probiotic, a prebiotic, and a probiotic/prebiotic cocktail in rats with 6-OHDA-induced PD enhanced host antioxidant enzyme activities through direct and indirect pathways. This supplementation protected dopaminergic neurons, improved motor functions, and altered fecal microbiota composition. The study suggests a potential therapeutic role of probiotics and prebiotics in PD by promoting antioxidant activity and modulating gut microbiome.

Isolation of phytochemical constituents from Stevia rebaudiana (Bert.) and evaluation of their anticancer, antimicrobial and antioxidant properties via in vitro and in silico approaches

Most Chand Sultana Khatun et al.

Summary: The study aimed to extract and characterize bioactive secondary metabolites with anticancer, antimicrobial, and antioxidant properties. Six compounds were isolated, with compound 1 showing the highest anti-proliferative and antibacterial activities, while compound 3 exhibited the strongest scavenging property against free radicals. Molecular docking studies supported the in vitro findings.
