Robust reduced graphene oxide membranes with high water permeance enhanced by K+ modification

Rujie Yang et al.

Summary: In this study, robust K+-crosslinked reduced GO membranes were developed for treating wastewater containing multivalent heavy metal ions, showing high water permeance and excellent aqueous stability. The improved permeability was attributed to cation-pi interactions between K+ and rGO sheets, enhancing membrane stability and potential for industrial membrane separation applications.

Selective reduction of epoxy groups in graphene oxide membrane for ultrahigh water permeation

Ruobing Yi et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the precise selective reduction of graphene oxide (GO) flakes with low epoxy content but high hydroxyl content using modified electron beam irradiation (EBI), leading to the fabrication of GO membranes with ultrahigh water permeation and effective rejection of dyes and multivalent metal ions. New hydroxyl groups generated by reducing epoxy using hydrogen radicals play a key role in controlling selective reduction and enhancing water purification performance of the membranes.

Graphene Oxide Membranes for Tunable Ion Sieving in Acidic Radioactive Waste

Tong Wu et al.

Summary: This study achieved selective separation of uranium from acidic radioactive waste containing multication by precisely adjusting the interlayer spacing of graphene oxide (GO) membranes. The swelling of GO was restricted in highly acidic solution due to protonation effect, and the interlayer spacing was further reduced below the diameter of uranyl ion by increasing the oxidation degree of GO, allowing successful sieving of uranyl ions from other nuclide ions in pH=3-3 mol L-1 nitric acid solutions.
