Water-soluble hollow nanocrystals from self-assembly of AIEE-active Pt(II) metallomesogens

Cristian Cuerva et al.

Summary: Luminescent hollow micro- and nanocrystals were successfully obtained through self-assembly behavior and aggregation-induced emission enhancement properties. Utilizing oil-in-water droplets, spherical aggregates of about 200 or 50 nm with high stability were formed, emitting bright orange light. These crystals can also entrap hydrophobic drugs between alkyl chains, forming stable drug-loaded capsules in water.

Polymer Micro and Nanoparticles Containing B(III) Compounds as Emissive Soft Materials for Cargo Encapsulation and Temperature-Dependent Applications

Frederico Duarte et al.

Summary: Polymer nanoparticles encapsulating B(III) compounds with an average size of about 200 nm were successfully prepared via the reprecipitation method, forming stable colloidal dispersions in water and maintaining the photophysical behavior of dyes. The study found that the B(III) particles continued to emit greenish light at high temperatures, with emission being restored upon cooling back to room temperature, showing reversibility.

A Comprehensive Study of Drug Loading in Hollow Mesoporous Silica Nanoparticles: Impacting Factors and Loading Efficiency

Lanying Guo et al.

Summary: The study found that oily drugs can be efficiently loaded into both types of HMSNs, while HMSNs are not good carriers for hydrophobic drugs especially planar drugs. HMSNs have high loading efficiency for oppositely charged hydrophilic drugs, which alters the zeta potential of drug-loaded HMSNs.

Cyanine Dyes for Photo-Thermal Therapy: A Comparison of Synthetic Liposomes and Natural Erythrocyte-Based Carriers

Giulia Della Pelle et al.

Summary: Cyanine fluorescent dyes have excellent optical properties but face limitations in biological applications, which can be overcome by encapsulating them into nano-carriers. The use of erythrocyte membrane vesicles (EMVs) as carriers showed reduced toxicity and improved stability for the dyes. Nano-carriers efficiently protected dyes from thermal and photo-induced degradation, enhancing their performance in biological applications.
