A new multi-mechanism kinetic model for batch adsorption is proposed in this study, where a dimensionless parameter serves as a mechanism indicator. The model can convert to different adsorption kinetics models as the dimensionless parameter changes values. The estimated mass transfer coefficients show a reasonable agreement with literature values.
A new multi-mechanism kinetic model for batch adsorption is proposed. A dimensionless parameter in the model serves as a mechanism indicator in the sense that the model converts to the pseudo-first-order (PFO), the Vermeulen (intraparticle diffusion) and the film diffusion models as the dimensionless parameter changes its values. Expressions relating the model parameters and the mass transfer coefficients are obtained which allow for the estimation of the film mass transfer and the intraparticle diffusion coefficients from 'show that the estimated mass transfer coefficients are in reasonable agreement with literature values.
