Selection and screening of fungal endophytes against wheat pathogens

Abdurraouf Abaya et al.

Summary: Endophytic fungi isolated from field grown wheat were screened for antagonistic activity against wheat pathogens, with S. lamellicola and C. flexuosum showing promising biocontrol potential. These fungi significantly inhibited the pathogenicity of F. graminearum and W. circinata on wheat seedlings.

Intercropping With Aromatic Plants Increased the Soil Organic Matter Content and Changed the Microbial Community in a Pear Orchard

Yan Zhang et al.

Summary: This study found that root exudates from aromatic plants influenced the diversity, structure, and functional groups related to the N cycle of soil microbial communities, ultimately increasing nitrogen release in orchard soil.

Cutaneous infection caused by paraconiothyrium cyclothyrioides in a renal transplant recipient

Almutasem Hamed et al.

Summary: Infections caused by Coelomycetes are being diagnosed more frequently, with cases ranging from superficial cutaneous infections to disseminated infections. An increasing incidence of infections caused by emerging environmental fungi is being reported in immunocompromised patients due to exposure to soil, plants, and water. Treatment options suggested include a case report of cutaneous infection and literature review.

Influence of Peanut, Sorghum, and Soil Salinity on Microbial Community Composition in Interspecific Interaction Zone

Xiaolong Shi et al.

Summary: This study found that plant types and soil salinity can affect the microbial community of the interspecific interaction zone. Plants under salt stress alter the composition and diversity of the microbial community. Interspecific interactions help maintain the stability and ecological functions of microbial communities by restructuring the core microbiome.

High-yield oleaginous fungi and high-value microbial lipid resources from Mucoromycota

Heng Zhao et al.

Summary: This study found that a significant portion of Mucoromycota fungi are oleaginous, with 34% of strains, 50% of species, and 46% of genera being oil-rich. Eleven genera were proposed as oleaginous taxa for the first time, and potential high-oil-yield and high-value fatty acid-producing fungi were identified. These findings suggest a rich potential for lipid production in Mucoromycota and provide a foundation for further research in microbial oil production.
