Column flotation of fine glass beads enhanced by their prior heteroaggregation with microbubbles

N. N. Rulyov et al.

Summary: The study explores the efficiency of utilizing microbubbles as flotation carriers in fine minerals beneficiation processes, finding that the optimal recovery rate is achieved with a volume dosage of 0.3 mL/g of microbubbles per floated particles weight unit. The average shear rate in the flotation reactor significantly influences the dependence of recovery on treatment time, with the best performance observed at shear rates of 300-500 s(-1) and treatment times of 8-10 s. The method of CTAB collector feed also plays a crucial role in the effectiveness of treating the mixture of particles and microbubbles in the flotation reactor, with positive results observed when the total amount of collector was fed into the reactor with the microbubble dispersion in the concentrated solution of CTAB collector.
