Update in aortic dissection

Andrzej Juraszek et al.

Summary: This paper discusses new concepts and developments in the diagnosis, classification, and treatment of aortic dissection, as well as controversies surrounding the topic. It presents novel findings in the patho mechanisms of aortic dissection, including indications for preventive surgery, biomarkers, and four-dimensional (4D)-flow magnetic resonance imaging. New classifications of aortic dissections have been proposed, and recent treatment improvements such as the frozen elephant trunk approach and thoracic endovascular repair are also discussed.

Neuraminidase 1 is a driver of experimental cardiac hypertrophy

Qian-Qian Chen et al.

Summary: This study identifies NEU1 as a critical driver of cardiac hypertrophy and inhibition of NEU1 opens up a new field of treatment for cardiovascular diseases. Furthermore, anti-influenza drugs zanamivir and oseltamivir effectively inhibit mammalian NEU1, suggesting new indications for cardio-protection.

Summary: The study suggests that utilizing nanotherapy, such as PM/TN-CCLP, can significantly prevent and treat aortic dissection by reducing the rupture rate, preventing loss of elastic fibers, and decreasing inflammation at the lesion site.

AT1R Regulates Macrophage Polarization Through YAP and Regulates Aortic Dissection Incidence

Xinhao Wang et al.

Summary: The research revealed that Ang II promotes macrophage M1 polarization and adhesion, leading to upregulation of YAP phosphorylation, inducing EC injury and increasing levels of multiple pro-inflammatory chemokines. Blocking AT1R function or knocking down YAP expression could alleviate the pro-inflammatory effect induced by Ang II, and ARB treatment effectively alleviated these effects, reducing the incidence of AD in mice.
