Does adherence to lipid-lowering medications improve cancer survival? A nationwide study of breast and colorectal cancer, and melanoma

Jia-Li Feng et al.

Summary: This study found that adherence to lipid-lowering medications was associated with a decrease in cancer-specific mortality in patients with breast cancer, colorectal cancer, and melanoma. The decrease in cancer-specific mortality was more pronounced in women adhering to lipophilic statins, although not statistically significant for melanoma.

Lipid-lowering medication use and cancer-specific survival among endometrial or lung cancer patients: an Australian nationwide cohort study

Jia-Li Feng et al.

Summary: Among women patients with endometrial or lung cancer who have ever used lipid-lowering medications (LLMs), adherence to the drug is inversely associated with reduced cancer-specific mortality. Positive relationships were seen in both endometrial and lung cancer, with no significant changes in different subgroup analyses. Adherence to lipophilic statins did not show reductions in lung cancer mortality, while better endometrial cancer survival was observed in the lipophilic statin group and borderline statistical improvement in the hydrophilic statin group.
