Evaluation of Ag@TiO2/WO3 heterojunction photocatalyst for enhanced photocatalytic activity towards methylene blue degradation

Bablu Basumatary et al.

Summary: Methylene blue degradation in wastewater was achieved effectively through the photocatalytic activity of Ag@TiO2/WO3 nanocomposite, which was prepared by a modified sol-gel precipitation route. The enhanced photocatalytic performance was attributed to reduced bandgap, improved charge carrier transfer efficiency, and plasmonic sensitization of Ag, resulting in a 25 times higher degradation rate compared to commercial DP25 photocatalyst under visible light.

Antimicrobial stewardship of antiseptics that are pertinent to wounds: the need for a united approach

Jean-Yves Maillard et al.

Summary: This review discusses the challenges faced in wound care due to the emergence of antibiotic-resistant strains, the tolerance of biofilms to antibiotics, and reported resistance to non-antibiotic antimicrobials. It also highlights the lack of standardized methods for evaluating the efficacy of antimicrobial dressings, as well as the difficulties in surveillance and management. The review calls for a unified approach to developing standardized methods that will provide a better basis for practitioners to make informed choices in wound care.
